spring summer video tutorial

Switch up a smoldering smoky eye for a gorgeous emerald green halo. It's a fresh take on the smoky look for spring and summer, and it's easy to do!

twist and braid

1 PART YOUR HAIR AND CREATE 4 front SECTIONS.

2 DO ONE BRAID ON EACH OF THE SIDES leaving one section to twist after, USE A SMALL RUBBER BAND WHEN YOU FINISH.

3 PULL THE RUBBER BAND DOWN BUT DO NOT TAKE IT OFF, THIS WILL HELP TO SECURE YOUR BRAID FROM FALLING APART. PULL GENTLY FROM EACH BRAID  UNTIL ITS LOOSE ENOUGH.

4 after you finish braiding take the other section on each side and twist it, use a bobbi pin to secure it.

5 pull gently to make the twist a little loose, this will make your hairstyle look undone and natural.

6 BRING ONE BRAID UP FIRST AND SECURE IT WITH 2 BOBBI PINS, DO THE SAME WITH THE OTHER BRAID AND MAKE SURE YOU COVER THE RUBBER BANDS UNDER EACH OTHER. USE MORE BOBBI PINS TO ENSURE THAT EVERYTHING IS IN PLACE.

5 if you have long hair like my model, you can be creative and leave part of a braid down or even do a lower bun if you dont want your hair down.

When in doubt, wear RED

One of my favorite things about summer is that we can use fun lip colors to complete any look and of course, RED is my favorite. It is a classic, we can all wear it by day, by night and will always look very femenine and fresh.

You can wear this flaterring color in a lot of different ways. From a long lasting matte lip to something glossy for a fresh look.

My favorite make-up brands that carry amazing lip colors are M.A.C Cosmetics, Nars, OCC and Kryolan.

To create this look I used:

Prime:

1. Nars Multi-Action Hydrating Toner

2. Make-Up Forever Hydrating Primer

3. Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment

Correction:

1. Kryolan Concealer

2. Make-Up Forever HD Foundation

3. Laura Mercier Contour Palette

4. Make-Up Forever HD Powder

Eyes & Brows:

1. Too Faced Matte Palette

2. Nars White Eyeliner Pencil

Cheeks:

1. Nars Laguna Bronzer

2. Benefit Watt's Up Highlighter

Lips:

1. Nars Dragon Girl - Siren Red

MAGOS HERRERA - DARE YOU TO INSPIRE

Last month I had the pleasure to work again with Magos Herrera for her concert at Lincoln Center. She is considered one of the most beautiful voices and most active vocalists in the contemporary Latin American jazz scene.

Magos is from Mexico and she moved to New York a few years ago to develop her artistic ambitions and to conquer her dreams and now she is immensely popular throughout Mexico and Latin America.

Not only her voice is what is making a strong impact wherever she performs but also she supports the UN campaign UNITE to stop violence against women and her personality keeps inspiring others to become what they dream, to work hard and be persistent.

Last week I had the opportunity to visit The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Mexico for the first time with Istituto di Moda Burgo  http://www.imbbylorens.com.

Javier de la Rosa, Key Artist From M.A.C Cosmetics who was the official sponsor created the look for designers such as Alexia Ulibarri, Benito Santos, Lorena Saravia, Pineda Covalin, Vero Diaz, among others. I was amazed by the production, the collections and of course by the make-up and hair team. Everyone did a wonderful job.

Dare You To Inspire

One of my favorite things about living in New York City is that every day you get to meet people from all over the world. I've had the opportunity to work with very talented, creative people who motivate me with their stories and most importantly the way they see life.

Everyone that lives in this beautiful city have something in common: we can't settle. We all work day and night to become what one day we dreamed about becoming, and it opens up us more to opportunities, to be more mindful about the decisions we make and to have faith even when nothing seems to be in the right place or time.

Today I want to share with you some of my experiences and stories working with people who inspire me to keep working hard, to dream big and to never lose hope. I really think that this could inspire you as well to keep up the positive energy and encourage you to do more.

Last month I had the chance to work with my dear friend and talented photographer Taleen Dersdepanian (http://www.taleendersdepanian.com) and one of my favorite bloggers in NYC. Her name is Jen Ramos, she is an entrepreneur with the best vibe and energy. When we arrive in her apartment, she and her husband Matt had baked delicious cupcakes for us and that made the day go sweeter! Matt couldn't take his eyes off of her, she looked beautiful wearing a dress from Michelle Smith (http://www.milly.com).

Jen not only has a blog where she writes about interior design, art, fashion, food and her personal experiences, she also owns two online stores, Made By Girl (http://www.madebygirl.com) where you can find her designs on frames, prints, notecards, among other chic accessories, and Cocoa and Hearts (http://www.cocoaandhearts.com) where she sells her own art that's full of bright colors, using very creative techniques. I really love everything that she does and most importantly, I love that she built her own companies from the bottom, wishing to become a strong and independent woman.

She started painting with the idea of saving money for the adoption of her first baby, and after years of faith and hard work she and her supporting husband Matt became a family of 3 with the arrival of their beautiful son, Noah. The love that both of them have for each other is reflected in everything they do and now has lead them to amazing collaborations and open doors. Jen has published her work in magazines around the world like Glamour, Lucky Magazine, Marie Claire, Elle, Harpers Bazaar, just to name a few.

Her story is a great example that by working hard and keep believing, life can lead you to great things.

Thank you Jen and Matt for opening the doors of your home and being so welcoming.

I dare you to inspire,

XO,

M.

How to create a nice and easy hairstyle using braids

STEPS

1 Part your hair and create two sections.

2 Do one braid on each of the sides and use a small rubber band when you finish.

3 Pull the rubber band down but do not take it off, this will help to secure your braid from falling apart. Pull gently from each braid  until its loose enough.

4 Bring one braid up first and secure it with 2 bobbi pins, do the same with the other braid and make sure you cover the rubber bands under each other. Use more bobbi pins to ensure that everything is in place.

5 Add some hairspray if you need it and you will be ready to rumble!
